A fantastic charity event which raised over £20,000 for The Broad Appeal was held in October 2014.
Chris Broad, former England Cricketer and his family are behind The Broad Appeal, launched following the untimely death of Chris’s wife Miche in 2010.
I had a very personal interest in this event as Chris was an old sparring partner of mine back in the day. And I was pleased as punch he’s asked me to take care of the whole event.
We were delighted to be granted exclusive access to the famous Long Room at Lords cricket ground for the prestigious black tie dinner event.
Chris was there, along with Stuart, his son, current England Test and One Day International Cricketer and daughter Gemma, Team Performance Analyst for the England men’s team.
What is motor neurone disease or MND?
The MND Association states that it is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting.
Sadly there is no current cure for MND though research is continuing in earnest to find a breakthrough.
And that means that funds are badly needed to progress this research to find a cure sooner rather than later.
Support from The Broad Appeal
Chris Broad and his family have worked hard to increase awareness of the disease and raise much needed funds.
Recent fund raising events have also included the third day of England vs India’s Investec Test match at Trent Bridge Cricket ground.
