Rhodes repeat incentive trip for Reed Employment

Reed Employment again chose Rhodes to organise their annual incentive and again chose The Big Apple as their destination after the success of the 2006 incentive, adding an extra night for ‘07.

The ground programme was changed for 2007 as a number of the delegates were qualifiers in 2006.

On arrival at JFK the delegates were coached in to Central Park where they were guided through Strawberry Fields and on to the Boat House by the frozen lake for hot dogs and beers, and entertained with a “sing along” to a number of Beatles songs.

With their luggage already sorted, most of the delegates then chose to walk back to their hotel, The Marriott Marquis in Times Square, with an early chance for shopping en route whilst strolling down 5th Avenue.

Having relaxed for an hour or so and freshened up it was down to the bar for Sex in the City style Cosmopolitans and then on to the famous “Becco” restaurant in restaurant street.

Following a great meal of various pasta dishes and of course fine wines the group were ready for a relatively early night in anticipation of a full city tour the following day.

Following a hearty breakfast the group went on a city tour taking in all the major sites and hopping off the coach near Ground Zero for a more sobering moment. Our irrepressible guide Hardy then took us to the ferry terminal for the quick trip over to New Jersey and lunch at Arthur’s Landing, with its spectacular views back across to Manhattan.

Back to Manhattan after lunch and free time to explore and of course shopping.

Saturday evening was undoubtedly the highlight of the trip with a World Yacht Dinner cruise aboard The Princess. The trip took the group down the Hudson and around the tip of the Island for the fantastic views of the Brooklyn Bridge and of course the, spectacularly lit, Statue of Liberty. All this whilst eating even more superb food and being entertained. The group spontaneously joined in with the Robbie Williams classic "Angels", knowing all the words – mystifying one of the American guests who was heard to say, “You know that so well – is that you’re National Anthem”!!!!!

Following the cruise the group kicked on in to the City that never sleeps.

Sunday morning was optional, but the majority were on parade for a trip in to Harlem, for a church service with a magnificent Gospel Choir, with the whole congregation at the beginning turning around to face the group and sang a welcome song.

After the service the group were transferred to Brassiere 8 ½ on 57th street between 5th and 6th: A very trendy contempory restaurant where a sumptuous brunch was served and then off to the Empire State Building or more shopping.

The group then rendezvoused for a quick meal at Havanna before strolling over to the Theatre for Monty Python’s – “Spamalot;”

Where next year? A hat trick for New York or another destination that has to live up to the Big Apple.
